Two Questions and observations for today from Zechariah 4:7-9…

When it comes to stepping out in faith and undertaking a mission that stems from the very heart of God, we are often overcome by the size and cost of the task. Consider two questions the Lord asks in Zech. 4:7-9:

“What are you, mighty mountain?…you will become level ground…”

Take in the mountain before you, albeit briefly. However, fix your gaze upon the One who has the power to remove it. If the Father has set you before a mountain, neither focus on the seemingly insurmountable task ahead, nor on your own desires, strengths or abilities, all of which will seem far too small to come against it. Instead, focus beyond the mountain; beyond yourself, remembering that it will not be done by might, nor by power, but by the power of His Spirit.

“Who dares despise the day of small things…?”

As you look beyond yourself and beyond the mountain, do not despise the work of each day; the feeble attempts, small advances, or outright failures. Call to the One who has promised strength and power and rest in the knowledge that He sees, hears and will supply. Face the day. Work in faith. For these days of small things will lead to the removal of mountains.

What will be your first step?
